We continue our discussion of Harmony as a sacred place in Latter-day Saint history. We discuss Joseph and Emma moving down to Harmony and eventually into their first home of their own. Sadly, it is one of the only homes they will ever be able to call their own while they are married. We discuss the horrible events that transpire in the summer of 1828: the angel taking the plates away from Joseph, the theft of the 116 pages of the Book of Lehi manuscript, the death of Joseph and Emma’s first child, and Emma’s near death following the delivery. We also discuss Joseph’s first recorded revelation, D&C 3, which was received there in the midst of their suffering.
